Place Week Four: Develop

Image
Week Four This week we learnt how to use and the techniques of a camera while also learning the very, very basics of Photoshop. Thankfully I already know a thing or two about The Adobe program but the camera lessons were very helpful. We were also taught how to to collage work with the pictures we've taken. Finally we get to the Adobe programs and get to be creative with them. When the into to Photoshop was being taught, I was able to work away and get a nice comfy head start. I feel that the collage work was also very pleasant. It's a great way to get every picture on one page in a nice format. Although we were taught to use Photoshop I found that I like to use Illustrator better because I can get the pictures in a unique way that I like. My Collage the Studio Ghibli Museum I found the cameras to be a be confusing. While the lesion went into great detail on the proper techniques and the it is the best time for them, the cameras were hard to use. I also found myself g...

Pace week Three: Develop

Image
Week Three This week we did unconventional methods to sketch our surroundings in Greenwich, made a 3D object out of cardboard that represented our place and visited The Photographers Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Overall a very packed week. The unconventional methods was a unique way to portray the way world around us. I did things like drew with my left hand, did rubbings of the floor and sketch patterns. Its a shame that my locations are all abroad because I would differently go and do more of this. I also found the museum trips quite exciting. It was a nice change of pace to get out of the classroom and see culture with our own eyes. I found The Photographers Gallery very secretive and exclusive. The galleries shown at the time of visit was charming and told a story. The Victoria and Albert Museum was a pleasant experience. Once I had finished my task, which was very interesting, I had a wonder around the museum. From The Photographers Gallery I don't consi...

Place Week Two: Secondary Research and Note making

Image
Week Two This week we learnt secondary research, note taking and note making. Secondary research using and comparing other peoples research for your self as long as you give credit to the original souse. The information could be taken from books, videos, the internet and or museum trips. If you don't give credit its called plagiarism. Note taking is writing down notes as they happen. It should contain highlights for important information. Note making is processing the ideas, organising them and understand what they mean. I found the note taking and note making very useful. I've never been that keen on taking note before or even being good at it. However after this week I feel more confident in my ability to take notes. At the being of the week I felt that I already knew note taking, its something every school teaches but once the week began, my perspective on the subject grew. There was definitely more to note taking the I thought. That being said I do wish there was more...

The Kiss by Constantin Brâncuși

Image
The Kiss by Constantin Brâncuși First thoughts: The statue in question appears to be two people kissing. It could resent love and passion between two people. If you look at it from a curtain angle it looks like the small person. It could be made from a certain type of stone. Could of been made hundreds of years ago. Well crafted with simply imagery. Facts: Artist: Constantan Brâncuși Born 1876 Passes away 1957 Title: The Kiss Year: 1908 (was shown in 1913) The original stone carving is in the Muzeul de Arta at Craiova, Romania. Four types of The Kiss exist. Each type goes further toward obstruction. Although it was made in 1908 it was officially shown at the 1913 Armoury Show. Another version of the The Kiss serves as an adornment of a tomb in Montparnasse Cemetery in Paris, France but in 2017 it was covered in a box. There is also a version that can still be seen at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Known as one of Brâncuși works. The piece was made to express a subject in its...

Place Week One: Primary Research

Image
Week One What did you learn? This week we learned how to do primary research. Primary research basically going to a location and taking notes, interviewing people that you know or are the the location, take photos, make rubbings, make drawings, record sound and observe, the list is truly endless. We then used these notes and put the in our scrapbook. The note taking and quick sketching work really well for me. Gathering information and putting neatly in my scrapbook really helped me get my thoughts and feelings out there in a orderly fashion. It was hard taking notes because all of my locations were abroad however I have been to these locations many of times to mentally feel and sense the location. Instead of drawing the surroundings I drew images that represented the location. Some of the ways different artistic methods on how to describe our locations. I'm not very creative so trying to get my thoughts and feelings across using these methods were quite a challenge. My h...
